Itinerary

  • You will be welcomed at the airport then transferred to your arranged hotel in Luang Prabang for relaxation.

  • Uncover the ancient religious capital of Laos, and be surprised by its serenity and spirituality by tuk tuk:

    • Experience unforgettable moments by attending the procession of barefoot monks,
    • Visit some small morning markets,
    • Visit a local food market to discover some typical local Laos cuisine.
    • Visit the temple of Wat Visoun,
    • Explore the National Museum (formally the Royal Palace)
    • Cross the Mekong River by boat to the picturesque village of Ban Chan, a pottery village.
    • Visit Vat Xieng Mene, and then follow village paths and rocky trails along the Mekong towards Vat Chom Phet.
    • Climb the stairs to this unique temple, once used as a retreat by the king to escape court pressures.

  • Luang Prabang - Oudomxay: 200 km - 5h

    Drive towards Oudomxay, the most mountainous area in Laos, home to 23 ethnic minorities such as the Lue, Black Thai, Thai, and Hmong, this mountainous environment reflects a wild and untamed nature.

    Stop and take a walk through ethnic villages like Ban NaTeui, Namor, and Ban Tawan, inhabited by the Laos Houei, Yao Mien, Lanten, and Hmong peoples.

    Discover traditional homes where weaving, an activity developed by the women, is still practiced on old wooden looms

    Late afternoon, enjoy some free time in Oudomxay, the capital of the province.

  • Private car transfer with your guide from the hotel to the starting point of the trek.

    A 1.5 km trek will lead you to the beautiful Huay Soum Waterfall.

    Next, you will pass through part of the jungle.

    The trek continues along the Namkat River, crossing 13 suspension bridges and experiencing 9 ziplines before returning to the parking area where your car will be waiting to take you back to the hotel.

  • Depart to Muang La.

    From there, you will follow the river (by car or on foot) to the Nam Phak River, where your trek begins.

    Pass through beautiful landscapes of rice fields and mountainous scenery. The farming activities will give you insight into traditional working methods, and you'll also see local fishing practices.

    Around 9 a.m., the trek will begin along a small path towards a village.

    The day will be filled with discovering the untouched wilderness, observing agricultural work, and meeting local villagers on their farms.

    Return to the village, then a private car transfer to Muang La.

  • Muang La - Muang Khua - Muang Ngoi: 70 km - 2h

    Depart to Muang Khua by private car in about 2h. Then, take a wooden boat along the Nam Ou River to Muang Ngoy. Pass incredible landscapes of unspoiled nature

    Observe the rural life at a village along the way.

    Continue the cruise until reaching Muang Ngoy.

    Take a 2 – hour trek through the stunning karst cliffs and peaceful surroundings near Muang Ngoy.

  • Muang Ngoy – TREKKING – Nong Khiaw

    Day trek in Ban Na and Ban Tham Kang:

    • This gentle trek offers stunning mountain panoramas around Muang Ngoy as well as beautiful stretches of rice fields.
    • On an easy walk, cross small streams, explore caves, and discover small hamlets, all in the heart of well – preserved nature and tropical forest around Muang Ngoy.
    • Meeting at 9:00 am and starting the trek for 30 minutes to visit Tham Kang,
    • After visiting the cave, the trek continues towards Ban Houay Sene (a Khmu and T'ai Deng ethnic village).
    • The trek proceeds to Ban Na (a village of the T'ai Deng ethnic group).

    From Muang Ngoy, board a boat for a 1 – hour cruise to Nong Khiaw,

  • Nong Khiaw - Luang Prabang : 140 km - 3h

    Half – day Trek from Nong Khiaw to the Summit of the Town's Second – Highest Mountain.

    • Begin the short but steep hike to the second – highest viewpoint overlooking Nong Khiaw.
    • See up to 20 km across the mountains to the north in the Muang Ngoy region.
    • The total duration of the trek is 4 hours, with about 1.5 hours of climbing, a break at the summit for a snack, and 1.5 hours of descent.
    • Return to Luang Prabang.
    • On the journey back, stop at the village of Ban Xang Hai, where we see the distillation of rice wine made in the traditional ways by the women. (if time permits)

    Arrive in Luang Prabang by late afternoon.

  • Luang Prabang – Nam Khan River on canoe – Tomb of Henri Mouhot

    Depart to Ban Xiang Ngeun, the last village accessible by road. It is situated on the Nam Khan River, a tributary of the Mekong River.

    Boarding canoes, go upstream on the Nam Khan River to the large village of Khamou.

    See men fishing, gossiping women doing washing, children playing and buffaloes cooling off on the river’s edge.

    Head down the Nam Khan River to the tomb of Henri Mouhot.

  • Luang Prabang - Xiengkhuang - The Plain of Jars: 300 km - 6h

    We begin with a 6hr drive to the province of Xieng Khuang. This region was heavily bombed in 1970 by the United States in an attempt to conquer the Pathet Lao troops of Laos.

    Along the way, stop to visit some ethnic villages, the Khmu and Hmong in traditional costumes.

    Visit the “Plain of Jars” (site 1)

    Visit villages of ethnic H’mong and Thai Phuan Dam people.

  • In the morning, visit the local market of Phonsavan.

    Then, road to the ancient capital of the province of Muang Khoun, home to the Hmong and Thai Dam tribes.

    Continue to visit sites 2 and 3 of the Plain of Jars,

    On the way, visit several villages in the region to discover the local cultures and lifestyles.

    Return to Phonsavan in the late afternoon.

  • Xiengkhuang - Vang Vieng: 200 km - 6h

    Depart to Vang Vieng, a scenic route with natural karst formations.

    Make a brief stop at the village of Phoukhoune, a commercial crossroads on National Route 13, built during the French protectorate era.

    Then, stop at the picturesque Hmong village of Hin Ngon.

    The final stop of the day is at Mont Phatang bridge, offering a panoramic view of eroded limestone peaks.

    Upon arrival in Vang Vieng, transfer to your hotel.

  • Vang Vieng - Nam Ngum Lake - Vientiane: 170 km - 4h

    In the morning, visit the local market.

    Departure to Nam Ngum Lake, located 70 km from Vang Vieng. Enjoy the beautiful natural landscapes and stunning panoramas along the way.

    Cross the lake and explore its tropical islands. Savor lake fish prepared in the traditional Lao style.

    Stop at the historical site of Vang Xang,

  • Our day is spent visiting the capital city's main attractions such as temples and monuments:

    • Vat Sisaket,
    • Phraken Ho,
    • Patouxay, a large monument, reminiscent of the Arc de Triumph in Paris.
    • The large golden stupa of That Luang,
    • The temple Wat Si Muang,
    • Relax in the Wat Sokpaluang, enjoying a wonderful steam bath and massage.
    • Enjoy some free time to stroll and investigate some of Vientiane’s markets, including the covered market, known as the “Morning Market” with lots of local crafts, jewelry, gold and silver on display.

  • Vientiane FLIGHT – PAKSE – Boloven Plateau

    Transfer by private car with driver to the airport of Vientiane for your flight to Pakse.

    You will be welcomed upon your arrival at the airport to start a day of exploration.

    Take the road to Boloven Plateau (1250 m altitude),

    Discover magnificent waterfalls named Tad Lo and Tad Fan. (Zip – lining is available – additional charge).

    The plateau is also home to various ethnic groups, and you'll visit some of their villages with traditional stilt houses made of wood, bamboo, and woven materials.

    Visit a village inhabited by an animist tribe of people called Khaleune (Katou),

    At Houey Houn we will see women busy working on their looms,

    On the way, detour to the village of Ban Sapaie, an area well known for its weavings of cotton and silk, and other textile productions.

  • Boloven Plateau – 4000 islands – Khong Island

    Transfer by private car to reach the Champassak.

    Visit Vat Phou temple,

    Transfer to the site of the "4000 islands" and its wonderful peaceful landscapes. The river floods the plain and after it recedes, many small islands appear, hence the name, "4000 islands".

    Transfer to Khong Island, the largest of this group of islands.

  • Khong Island - Boat - Khone Island

    Discover the village of Ban Khong to see the Wat Keo Phouang Temple, and the magnificent Buddha, protected by seven heads of Naga’s.

    Then, take a motor canoe through the region of the 4,000 islands to enjoy a look at river oriented life.

    Stop at Khone Island to see the old colonial mansions of the French period, and while on the island we visit two waterfalls: the Li Phi falls,

    The day concludes with the observation of rare, white "Irrawaddy" river dolphins.

  • Khong Island – Pakse – FLIGHT – Vientiane - Departure

    Transfer by private car with driver to the airport of Pakse for your flight to Vientiane, followed by your international departure flight.
